Everyone generally enjoyed this book, although there was some discrepancy as to whether or not we thought it was a “good” book.
Some thought the characters could have been written better or more thoroughly. Others thought the plot stood well enough on its own and that any more character development would have ruined the pace.
Some thought that the book was entertaining, but was little more than that. Others said that the book should not be judged as a classic but for what it is: quality modern ficiton.
There was some comparison made to The Secret Life of Bees (which many books in our group seem to get compared against; maybe because it was our first book). Someone made the comment that, once again, we have an ambiguous ending.
